I would like to bring up my Sky Box from Mayo as it is rarely used and instead use it in my house in Dublin.

However I dont have a satellite dish in my house in Dublin, we currently use UPC.

I will keep my subscription to Sky going as normal but just wondering would i have to get a sat dish installed for it to work in Dublin house?

    Thanks in advance

Yes, a satellite dish is required for a Sky box.

Yes, a Sky box receives its signals from satellites at the 28 degrees east position. Can't do without a dish.

It does have to be connected to a satellite dish, but if you have an active sky sub, you can get a free home move. Bring the card and the box, sky will install the cables and the satellite dish free of charge.

Yes, you have to connect the box to the dish in order for it to work. You may be able to access on demand services however using your broadband connection, but certainly not RTÉ etc through the TV Guide menu.

    Any parabolic reflector may work?

Or, how about one specially designed for reception of the Ku-band signals the OP is after? Y'know, like a satellite dish?
