We are considering buying Nintendo WII or Nintendo WII U for our daughter - 4 years old, mainly for Just Dance but also for some other games for children. We would also connect through it to Netflix.
What's more suitable and, what would be recommendable in terms of the roadmap and support? Is WII enough or is WII U worth the extra cost?

WiiU, it'll play all the Wii games and the new stuff.
Plus there's some good deals and you can pick one up for around €250 now.
Plus, there's no other way to play the likes of Super Mario 3d Land or Wind Waker HD.
    Well worth the money tbh.

I'd strongly second that Wii u recommendation. You can use the gamepad controller almost like a tablet as well. So if someone is using the tv, the gamepad can be used to play games, watch Netflix or YouTube.

We don't have sky anymore but our 2 and a half year old wasn't long in figuring out that peppa bloody pig could be found on YouTube and fired to the tv. Happy days :(

For a 4 year old a Wii would be fine and you could pick one up on adverts for about 50 quid.

Argos - €250 for the Nintendoland pack (and another one or three free games)

Smyths -same price but not including the free games.

Amazon had some very good specials before Christmas but nothing available at the moment. I got it for €240 (Nintendoland pack + ZombiU + Sonic Racer).

I've probably spent almost half that again since though! Mario 3D, Zelda, Rayman, the balance board, Wii Fit meter, a controller...

I just keep reminding myself that I could have spent €500 on an Xbox One and not even have a game with it. And then have to pay to access Xbox live again.

The 8gb starter pack WiiU is only 235 right now in Argos, which is small money for such a machine.

Fully agree with other posts here wii u all the way. Way more options than wii and it'll be supported (fingers crossed) for another few years.

I bought one from amazon on Black Friday and have put a lot of time into it over Xmas mostly playin it on the gamepad allowing the missus to keep watching telly.

    Great bit of kit imo

if it's just for your daughter get a second hand wii (with games) but if you or your partner have any interest in gaming and the other media stuff mentioned above get the wii u.

If you can get a wii cheap (like they are on adverts) you'll have more than a wealth of games to pick from, at a much reduced price.

Let's be honest, she's four, she doesn't care about the latest new releases.

    Go for the wii

I'd say just get a normal Wii, you'll get it a fraction of the price of a Wii U and it has plenty of just dance type games already available for it
