so what i would like to know is can i get the remote locking working again with the key i have??
was going to try and buy an old one off ebay and try to program it to work with my car.
or what are my options pls?

just started lookin into universal remote central locking kit now
    ?

    thanks..

Well, aftermarket remote control kit is quite a good solution (in terms of price).

2nd hand genuine remote will work as well, just bear in mind you must find a correct one (even if they look the same, can be different inside).

BTW - keep your only key very safe.

    VERY safe. ;)

    Happy New Year.

thanks for reply. ya price is big factor, but universal seems to be ok on price and seems like a diy install.
any idea how much to copy my grey key? and if it will work?

had a bucket load of stuff stolen from car last wk overnite :(

Yes, you can copy a grey key for (roughly) 15-20 quid, but you won't code it, so it'll only open/close doors/boot, but won't start a car.

Yeah basically the grey key is only a valet key which won't open boot or glove box ( on certain toyotas) go code a new key you need a black (master) key, if you loose your grey key it will cost you around €1000 euro to get a key to start your car

i put aftermarket central lock in my '98 avensis . it cost 15-35 quid ... depend where you buy .... and installation wont take much time, if know all wire codes. ... id do know, and may share with you. ... matter of join 5 or 6 wires, depend of type of central locking module. just dont buy those which comes with siren or something extra, as this may cause some difficulties later on. ... need just plain central locking module with remote controllers. ... usually comes two in package.

Thanks Mar4ix, heading for town later to see how much they are offline, would appreciate help with the wiring if you could?
i'll be going for a module without the extras.
    cheers

Just in case somebody after that wiring ,

central locking has negative impulse ,
so , when installing module, follow for negative
    impulse wiring procedure.

    for the car wiring ......
blue wire - to lock car
    orange-blue - to unlock car.

I've found those wires on original remote module wiring
    harness..

    Constant " + " and " - " sources are plenty there.

Regarding indicator light flashing ... i didnt connect to them, as my module had only one wire for indicator light flashing, but really there is two wires in car.. i didnt know, do i have split that wire, or i've missing something ... i didnt connect to them .
.. btw .. indicator wire color codes are ..

green - black with silver marking .
green - yellow with silver marking..

    Good luck with install.

    hey,
still havent made the purchase yet, but was wondering if anyone knew how/where to get the KEy code for my key?

found this site that will post a transponder key, cut and all!
    http://www.carkeyhelp.co.uk/products/Toyota-Avensis-transponder-key-TOY47T.html

seems a lot cheaper than the 70 i was quoted for a key with transponder earlier today...

    thanks..

A new key is codes using an "original" black key, unless you have this you can never code a new like the one you are looking at above. I suggest get an after market kit like above and Never lose your grey key....
