Seems good as fair as I can tell :)

No no no, wrong motherboard, you want a Z87 to take the 1150 CPU, the one you picked has the 1155 socket on it.

Also if you live in Dublin check out adverts.ie ( www.adverts.ie/4434442 ), there's a brand new Corsair 750w Power Supply that's better than the one your getting, it's €99 new in Maplins but he's accepting €80 for it, it's well worth the extra €15, comes with the receipt.

I take it you have hard drives, optical drive and your OS already?

Thanks, I'll switch that motherboard out.

I don't live in Dublin unfortunately but do you recommend that I get that PSU anyway? I have my HDD and OS sorted.

Depends how much it cost's overall, Corsair are great for PSU's and it's 750w so you're good to go for upgrades in the future, plus is Modular so no wires all over the place that aren't needed. For €15 more I'd pay it, but that's just me being a tidy freak :)

the one you suggested he buy on adverts for 80 Euro second hand as a "good deal"... is 82 Euro brand new off the site he is already buying from.

Second , why would you be quoting prices from maplins?

A 500w modular corsair is 55 euro. This is enough power for rig you posted.

Just checked their website and yes it's down to €71.99  my bad, priced must have dropped in the last week or so( as per the guys ad(a receipt to back it up) and what a friend said he'd paid, they were €99). I almost bought it for a friend last week but the guy didn't respond and he needed it in a rush so he bought it new himself.
Based on the above and that it was only used for 1week c/w a receipt to back it up, it wasn't a bad price (when I still thought it was €99 that is) compared to what he was going to pay on his original mail.

Hardwareversand.de had it for €82ish w/o delivery so again getting it for €80 or whatever he could get him down to would've been a decent enough price.

Stupify, If you still wanna stick with a 750w you should tell the guy it's now down to €72 on their website and see what you can get it for.

If you wanna stick with a 500w go with sterlings advice.

If I'd have double checked what I knew a week ago I'd have found out the above but I was more concerned about getting in a reply fast last night so you didn't order the wrong board, wasn't sure how quick you were placing you order.

Corsair modular is not essential, the be quiet l8 500 w 58 Euro is a good PSU. Quiet quality made.
I only suggest the particular l8 be quiet 500w model as from helping another guy today know others are out of stock.

Have you ran your build through the discount site.

I could go higher (800-850) if it would get me a comparable increase in performance.

I'm assuming you have windows. So its 715 total. 850 would mean you have another say 130 to play with? So you could upgrade the graphics to a gtx 770 or r9 280x? If you really wanted or are you happy with 7870.

What games or use is the pc getting are you overclocking( guessing yes from parts picked)

I plan to overclock eventually but not right away, should run games ok without overclock at the moment? Want to be able to play witcher 1-2 and skyrim on highest settings possible (heavy gaming use basically).

I was happy with the 7870 but only because I heard good things about it, would those two that you named be a big step up?

Yes you won't need to overclock. Right now at all.

Yeah I had a 7870 myself and Asus model you chosen is a good quality model, I upgraded from the 7870 to gtx770.

difference gaming wise was going from medium settings on 7870 to ultra settings on gtx770.

Might be worth it so, other than the graphics card then would you upgrade anything else?

No your parts are good .solid cpu ,good power supply, ram is ram you picked right one, nice case(you could go cheaper case corsair 300r 65 euro) but I like the one you picked myself.

apart from the mobo swap to haswell 1150. All looks good.

If you get the 770 or r9 280x(out of stock most places) then you will be smooth sailing. But It's not essential.

Ok, I've made the switches, now this is what it looks like. I'm gonna order it now so just want to make sure this is alright.

    Item|Price
FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Black Pearl|€82.59
    Intel Core i5-4670K Box, LGA1150|€197.95
    ASRock Z87 Extreme4, Sockel 1150, ATX|€113.53
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€27.48
    8GB-Kit G-Skill RipJaws PC3-12800U CL9|€64.96
ASUS GTX770-DC2O-2GD5 DirectCU II OC, GeForce GTX 770, 2GB GDDR5|€286.31
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€791.81

I'm gonna order my PSU off of amazon: a corsair 500w (I plan to overclock eventually, so is this enough?). And I have a 480GB SSD on the way already.

    So what do ye think?

You don't really need to spend as much on the board if you aren't planning on dual cards, and if you were you'd probably need 750w at least anyway. So since you are getting a 500w might as well drop the board down to the z87 pro3/pro4 and save 20 quid or so.

Just one more question now and I'm ready to order.

I'm going to get a monitor from them too. Will I have trouble using a german monitor over here, they use different plugs I know but will a simple adaptor solve this problem?

Adapter will work fine, but you could get a lead as well, either a kettle or laptop type lead depending on if the monitor has an internal psu or power brick.

Will I need to change the fuse in the plug?

Is there a monitor you would recommend?

I wouldn't think any fuses need to be changed.

Whats the monitor budget?, I'd probably go with one of the lg flatron IPS monitors, they're a very decent budget offering.

Pretty decent, the 1920X1200 Dell Ultrasharp U2412M is in your price range as well. Personally I'd go the IPS route over a 120Hz TN panel monitor but either are fine, theres no right answer and really its whatever you reckon you'd prefer yourself.

The Korean 1400p monitors like this are an option as well, bit riskier but great value, however they may attract customs charges and are a pain to ship back if anything goes wrong (There is a big "Catleap" thread on them lower down the first or second forum page)

Didn't know about those, they look good but as you said a bit of a risk. Will I notice any lag on that dell you mentioned?

    Asus VX239H maybe this?

Amazon 166 pound down from 200 conversion
    =200 euro.

I don't see why not, definitely a good option as well and a bit cheaper if OP would prefer to spend a bit under the budget.

I actually have one myself and I certainly haven't noticed any additional lag or anything like that. Its feels just as responsive as the old 2ms LG 1080p TN panel that I replaced it with. To my eyes at least its a very good monitor for gaming (And absolutely great for non gaming tasks).

I haven't ever gamed on a 120Hz monitor so I couldn't give any real opinion on the Dell vs something like the BenQ, but the Dell is certainly feels as responsive as any other 60Hz TN panel I have used.

Try pick it up on amazon from amazon. Hugh selection of monitors.Great customer service. And good returns policy. You will have your refund before you have even sent back a faulty item.
    Worth taking into consideration.

If parts are in stock sure. Your ram is not. And you sure you want to go amazon for PSU? You will get a 600w one for same price on hwvs.

Ok, all my parts are in stock so I'm going to pull the trigger now I think.

    Item|Price
Corsair CS Series Modular CS650M 650W ATX 2.3|€78.20
    Sharkoon Drakonia Gaming Laser Mouse|€22.67
    8GB-Kit G-Skill RipJaws PC3-12800U CL9|€66.82
WD Desktop Mainstream 3TB Retail (WD Blue)|€106.76
    Samsung SH-224DB schwarz|€14.69
    ASUS PCE-N15|€14.90
ASUS GTX770-DC2O-2GD5 DirectCU II OC, GeForce GTX 770, 2GB GDDR5|€280.94
    Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO - Intel/AMD|€27.47
    ASRock Z87 Extreme4, Sockel 1150, ATX|€114.81
    Intel Core i5-4670K Box, LGA1150|€198.93
FRACTAL DESIGN Define R4 Black Pearl|€86.89
Special item: Dell UltraSharp U2412M (schwarz)|€235.13
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€1267.20

I made some changes since last time, changed the PSU, thought I might run dual-cards down the line so kept the extreme4 mobo. Should 650W be enough? Was thinking of a xfx 850w otherwise.

Decided to get the monitor here as well, it's 35 euro cheaper than on amazon.

So, anything I need to change?

Of the same build? The corsair cs750w is coming up as 92 for me. Was thinking of the xfx 850w black edition, looks like a serious bit of kit and it's 80+ gold rated. But 123 euro, think it would be worth it if I ran a dual card down the line?

650W would probably manage two just about but its tight enough and there isn't really a whole lot of overclocking headroom there, I'd like to have a bit more so we are not going too to go near 100% load capacity and aim for at least 750W.

Not sure I would necessarily go with a gold PSU myself either tbh, unless you're running a bitcoin mining rig 24/7 how much are you really going to save on the electricity if its just for gaming for a few hours per day over it lifetime?
