Timing belt kit price/spec difference

    Hi Lads

Looking to replace the timing belt on my car. From looking online it seems to be a bit of a minefield trying to find out whats what from the various vendors...

I've found two kits for my car a mk3 Golf GTI 16v but one is almost 3 times as expensive as the other on the same site (and around double the price on other sites..)

    CONTITECH TIMING BELT KITS CT872K1

    This one for €43

    CONTITECH TIMING BELT KITS CT872K2
    And this one for €120

The spec and contents seems to be the same, and both are up on several other sites with similar price differences. The only thing I can think of is the more expensive one might have a water pump included - though there isn't any evidence either way.. Also the water pump is not run by the timing belt on this engine.

Can anyone of you guys more used to this sort of thing point me in the right direction??

There are two different types of timing belt tensioner on the ABF engine. Manual and automatic. So you need to know which type is on your engine before ordering.

A water pump wont come with a timing belt kit you will have to buy that seperate.
