    Thought I'd share this one with ye's

    €10 for 4 litres of certain lines of engine oil in Halfords - shop brand

    5W30 Fully synthetic;
    5W40 Fully synthetic;
    10W40 Part synthetic.

    OK, no doubt its not the best brand of oil out there and far from every modern engine will like it but if like me you drive an older car that burns a drop of oil or do your own servicing this stuff has to be a bit of a steal.

    Picked some up in Tralee on Sunday and meant to post in BA forum before now.

    What's the difference between the one marked as Ford and the one marked as Opel, Volvo etc? Surely 5W40 Fully synth is always the same?

    Not entirely sure cruhoortwunk. I'd hazard a guess there ain't a lot of difference but dont take my word on that either. Probably grand with older cars anyway. I've used Ford oil in a 01 petrol avensis. No issues to report as a result

    different brands are certified to whatever standard that particular manufacturer prefers in their engines,for example JASO-Ma or similar.
