I would expect they have the whole thing on camera.

Frightening thought. Probably targeting people with cameras, gifts etc in their luggage. Are you safe anywhere these days?

Sounds like a nutter. On a side note the airport charge a hefty fee for a jump, I think it's 75notes

My sister needed a jump start in long term red I think - they helped her out, didnt charge, she said were very nice about it. Was about 18 months ago.

It depends on who you get. The carparks and maintenance lads will help you out FOC if the have jump leads with them, most will even go and get some for you, did it myself lots of times for returning pax. If you get the official recovery bloke with the ridiculously huge tow truck, he'll charge for his service.

Myself and Mrs Swanson were returning from our xmas holidays and had collected the car from the long term car park. As we were leaving some lad jumped out in front of the car waving his arms in the air.

I rolled down the window a crack to see what was wrong with him. He said his car would not start and would I help him. I told him to contact the airport police as they have facilities to help people in his situation. He was having none of that and proceeded to attempt to open my door. At this point I gunned it to the exit and drove towards the M50.

I got the mrs to ring the airport police and told them about the incident.

Just putting it out there that there are dangerous people everywhere and where you least expect it.

Lucky escape, the break ins that go on in them car parks and the staff ones are ridiculous, would of been better off contacting the Garda, Airport Police can't do much in that situation

Those long term car parks seem well dodgy; I actually hate leaving any car in them. Too many cars, too big an area, too little supervision.

Im glad you got out of there okay. I guess its a bit of a ridiculous scam if thats what it is; how many people would have sufficient mechanical skills to even be inclined to help? Id imagine most people would just say sorry cant help and then drive off.

All it takes is one person feeling christmasy, and they'll end up with no car.

Had a fella knock on my house door a few times a while ago, kept asking for a push, but he seemed a bit pissed so I ignored him. It was about 3am.

Eventually felt bad and thought of all the nice things people had done for me over the motoring years. I got dressed and headed out.

Yer man was over the moon, sprinted off around the corner and I followed to see him sitting on a swing in the local playground looking at me expectantly.

    Happy new year.

Not to derail the thread entirely but got the recovery truck out for the red car park out after my battery had gone flat.
No charge. This was in October this year

Jaysus, i'm glad you and the OH got out of there unharmed.

I've always gotten a taxi to the airport, i've never liked the look of those long term car parks.

Time before last when we were on hols, returned to red car park to find car window smashed, stereo gone and whatever was in the car gone(nothing of even vague value(why bother tbh). I was well impressed at then having to pay the full parking fee and the shrugs of "shure what can you do?" didn't improve the humour either. Got an as5 full of glass all the way home and it was baltic as well. It wasn't even a good stereo. My regard for the long-term car parks took a bit of a dive.

Better off imo paying to park in one of the nearby hotel car parks and getting their shuttle bus to and from the terminal door.

Would you be any safer paying the big bucks to use the multistory beside the terminals?

Big bucks is right, they are only short term carparks now, €20 charge per day I think
