    Hello,

I have a question, would you get RA if you were renting a house with another person or two in a 2/3 bedroom house?

As in if you and a friend decided to live together and the both of you wanted to apply individually under single person in shared accommodation.

I ask because of the whole co-habiting thing with SW and them assuming you're a couple.

Is there any margin acceptable over the rent limits?

Hope someone can shine a light on this I've not been able to find out how it would work with months. Thanks.

Yes you can re shared accommodation.
    Define living together. ?
No the rent limits are pretty much set int stone, your local cwo might be able to help on a case by case basis.

What does CWO stand for? It would be myself and another female friend, it would be a 2/3 bedroom house and we'd have a bedroom each

CWO,community welfare officer can usually be found in the local HSE health center.
Two people in a house with separate bedrooms sounds ok,you might have to show separate lease/rent agreements with the landlord.

Ah right I see, would we have to be on the local housing list first?

You two would have to be separately registered with the local council.again your local CWO will be able to point you in the right direction.

If you're in full time education, you won't be entitled to RA, unless under certain cases of Back To Education Allowance I believe.

    Employment and Rent Supplement

You will not qualify for Rent Supplement if you are in full-time employment (30 hours or more a week). (In the case of couples, if one of a couple is in full time employment, both are excluded from claiming Rent Supplement).

Hi again, I'll be on VTOS and I will still be eligible to apply for it. I've been renting a house in a different city to where I'll be going to college in September.

As far as I can gather, I need to be renting a place for 6 months to prove I've been paying my own rent to qualify. Will my time spent renting before I move be accepted or will it have to be a full 6 months in the new place/city.

It's almost impossible to meet the RA limits. I'm wondering how successful I'd be in approaching the CWO if what I'm renting is too far over the limit for the city? How lenient are they? Would my situation being a full time student with course expenses be considered towards the decision?
