We bought a lovely 2nd hand kitchen table just before christmas. My husband had it extended for the Christmas period but I want to put it back to its smaller round size today, I have removed the middle leaf but can't seem to push the two sides together, I've tried lifting them, no joy. There is two white axles in the middle and I can't get them to budge. Can anyone help me?

Simple answers but it's probably just stiff and needs a bit of encouragement or else there's a clip or something stopping it somewhere. Can you post a photo of it?

Thanks Dmc17, you were quite correct, the axles just needed some oiling and it worked fine. It was the first time I had tried to do this and so thought there might be a knack I was missing out. Thank you kindly for your reply.
