For that money you would get too end ski gear in TK Maxx.

    http://www.mountainwarehouse.com/expert-advice/ski-pants-guide/

Going by their own website, the pants are waterproof to 3000mm and doesn't mention breathability. Tresspass/Dare2b would rival these pants and jacket at a much lower price can be found at TKMaxx aswell

The magic number for waterproofing and breath ability is 10,000 that is the min you should settle for

I started off with cheapy gear and ended up soaked and miserable & sick for a month. It was prob a combo of the num of falls I took wasted energy extra sweat and poor gear.
This year I bagged a 20k waterproof pants and north face goretex shell in a Kildare village sale (79 EUR each) and the diff was amazing!!!

Now I also got a seconds German army goretex shell that's just as good from 'cissbury' on amazon for 30gbp. I wear it cycling in the rain with another v light jacket over it. Its class but looks a bit crap. I don't care really. Got seconds goretex mitts off same crowd for 10 EUR. Best mitts I ever had. Again look old school but so what. Warm toasty non sweaty dry hands....

So my advice is to spend a little extra if you have it and get better quality

I've been in TK Maxx and the selection was pretty crap in the one here in Sligo. Practically nothing that would fit someone who isn't freakish small for a midget or a super obese giant. Impossible to find stuff in a medium. A lot of the stuff didn't mention breathability or waterproofness either. So, it looks like I'm dealing with online.

Get yourself to north face in Kildare outlet village ... Can be hit and miss but talk to the employees there as they always have other things in the stock room ..

I think so. Far too many similarities between the two for them not to be. Is Nevica stuff good? They have base layers and ski pants at decent prices on sportsdirect do if they're good, I'll just grab a load of their stuff.

Nevis stuff is all right like dare2be will do the job!

Look on the tags in the jackets in TK Maxx normally the manufacturer tags have the details

You've to he persistent with TK maxx. Not Grest for pants, great for jackets, thermals and socks.

Have a lot of merino smartwool socks at the moment.

As a beginner, don't skimp on outer wear, if you are anything like I was you're butt will be on the snow more than not :)
    Esp your pants.
I agree with Fattes, 10K+, nothing will ruin a trip like being wet and cold on the hill.

I can never understand people who splash out on ski holidays then skimp on the essentials.

Also make sure you have a helmet, can rent them on the hills for buttons if you are on a budget.
