    Hi

So this seems such a silly question but has me stumped. My daughter is due to start school in September. She is currently on the waiting list for 4 schools.

One is Irish school in Maynooth
One is North Kildare educate together in Celbridge
    Then St Patricks in Celbridge
Then the small school in Ardclough.

I live in Celbridge and all these schools are relatively new schools. The educate together being 10 years old, st patricks is still in prefabs but will have secondary school built beside it. They say should be done for 2015. The other two are built in last 1/2 years.

How do you decide or know what school to send your child too, they all seem great schools.

St patricks is slightly in the lead as her crèche does after school to that school and a lot of her friends would be going their.

But other from that they all seem to be the same. Do I go with handiest or is their some questions I should be asking.

I'm lost as first time parent and didn't go to primary school in Celbridge or know many who have sent kids to primary.

The only one I know is the irish school in Maynooth .
It is a smallish school (takes in 62 kids) it depends on when you put the childs name down as demand there is way greater then supply due to a number of reasons.
It is very good for the irish language and the full immersion policy is enforced and the kids do have lovely irish.
We did not get a place there so I don't have a child there yet.

I have her name down since she was 3months but was told I was bit late as she was April baby. I heard it was a very good school so would like a place even though it is out of our way as such. As I drive to dublin for work so would need a new crèche/childminder

Class size, facilities, any recent whole school evaluation reports (WSEs) on the Dept website. Is the school welcoming, do the pupils seem happy and well behaved. Is it mixed or single sex, what about the ethos? (If you go with the ET do you want your child to get religious instruction outside of school hours?)

Completely agree, You need to get a 'vibe' about the school - somewhere you feel your child will (above all else), be happy.
The ethos is really important, whether it is a religious or non-religious/multi-denominational school. It varies between schools. I really think it's a good idea to ask the Principal for a walkabout- maybe visit during school hours.
    Good Luck
