Would you tip other posters a small amount of money?

I notice some posts get huge amounts of thanks, and to show appreciation I wouldn't mind tipping a few cents for truly inspirational posts instead. Yes yes I am completely stealing this idea from reddit, who use the Dogecoin (one of these much hyped new cryptocurrencies that are popping up left right and centre) but they can be converted to cash through some exchanges I believe. Anyway simple question for the poll: would you tip a post?

As my Grandfather used to say, "The party's never over".

Daft bastárd he was. But yes I think everyone should post a tip as I know nothing about sports.

I've seen people doing it on reddit, particularly for detailed and informative posts that they found helpful. I think it's a nice idea.

In practice, I'm not sure if it's worth the logistical hassle for a few cent and if it became a big thing, you'd have people trawling for tips and the quality of discussion would go way down.
    (Even moreso than thanks-whoring).

    Fcuk no.

Are you opposed to the idea of YOU tipping other posters, or just the general idea of tipping posts.

    Please distinguish.

Only if said posts were made by Nigerian princes. Their bank details are always readily available, so convenient.

Would that make thanks whoring officially an act of prostitution?

"Tipping" other posters means something else in some parts of this fair island...so I'm guessing why, yes, yes I would.

I pledged to a Kickstarter campaign for this thing called centup. Honestly thought it was going to revolutionise message boards and blogs, etc. Basically, you put a fixed amount like €20 into your centup account and there is where it remains. Then say someone with a blog adds a centup button to their page. If you're logged into centup and you like the particular blog (or in this case, post), just click the tip button and bam, 25c is taken from your account. Although, the person who made the post only gets 12.5c, the other 12.5c goes to a charity you choose when setting up your profile.

The whole paypal donation thing isn't as instant as maybe I think it should be and centup just focuses on really micro donations, 25c is the default amount whereas I think paypal is geared more to increments of €5.

Sadly, I have yet to see centup implemented anywhere I visit. Don't think it's really taking off as I had hoped it would. I think beside the thanks button here should be a centup button. I know there's a few posts on here that generally make me laugh or especially if I'm looking for info and I get a really indepth answer. That's something I'd love to throw a few cents towards the poster.

In fact, I'm going straight to feedback with this one.

Be sure to mention SSF as the charity - I think it would be a great idea...

Good idea, forgot there was a charity promoted by boards. I think centup may have only certain charities at the moment though, it is in it's infancy. Anyway set up the thread in feedback here

Imagine how easier the whole SSF process would have been if people could just click a button on the OP and send immediate payment.I think these new cryptocurrencies (litecoin, peercoin, etc) are perfect for that, cutting out the middle man (paypal, banks, etc) who generally charge commissions.

There already is a button in the SSF thread OP to send immediate payment. Sending payment via online currency would probably reduce the amount of people who'd donate (everyone has Paypal, not everyone would have these new online currencies) as well as leave them with online currency they need to translate into real cash or goods.

Just seems like a lot of added hassle for no real reason.

    Good idea.

Also, perhaps tips could be given via real life meetings between the parties.

Perfectly safe and the best bit is that nobody would be ambushed and beaten with sticks and/or dildos .
