Upgrading graphics card...

Hello all, just looking for a quick bit of advice from my betters...

Previously had my PC hooked up to my main TV via VGA - but I got a new TV today that doesn't have a VGA connection - so I bought a new (cheap) graphics card which has a HDMI connection.

Before I rip everything apart - just looking for some advice on two questions.

    1. If I take out the old graphics card, and put in the new one and hook it up to the TV via HDMI, how will this actually work considering that drivers will probably need to be installed to get the new graphics card working.

    2. the old graphics card is connected to my power supply - I assume for the fan - while the new graphics card has no power connection (or fan). I assume this shouldn't actually be an issue, I simply don't have to connect the old graphics card power supply.

I suppose my big worry is the first question - worried about plugging in the new graphics card and not actually being able to get the PC working cause I can't see anything to configure.

    EDIT:
    Old graphics card: Gainward GeForce 7900GS 256MB,1,2ns DDR3,PCI-Express, "BP7900GS-512-TV-DD-GS"
    New graphics card: GEFORCE GT610

    Cheers.

    1) Definately uninstall the old ones first (For best results I'd use a program called Driversweeper for this, to make sure all traces of the old one are removed), you should't need to install the new ones until the card is installed in the machine (they probably won't install anyway until the card can be detected). The card should work straight away after you put it in, but you'll be limited to low resolutions until the new drivers get installed.

    2) You are correct the motherboard can supply up to 75W of power to the GPU through the PCIe slot, the new card is simply a lower powered one that doesn't require any supplementary power from the PSU directly.
