Heya guys, to keep this short and simple... on the citizen's information website it says that you have to be 21 before the date your course starts at, just wanna double check on this information.

I'm 20 and will be 21 mid September (22nd to be exact), by then most courses will have already started, so am I not eligible for BTEA? (I meet every other requirement). I've only been out of college this year (and a previous year but it isnt continuously) so... :\

Q3. At what age can I apply for BTEA?

In general, you must be at least 21 years of age before the start date of an approved course of study. However, participants on disability-related payments can access BTEA at 18 years of age. You must be at least 24 years of age for an approved postgraduate course.
If you are getting Jobseeker's Allowance, Jobseeker's Benefit or One-Parent Family Payment for the required period (3 or 9 months), are aged between 18 and 21 and have been out of the formal education for at least 2 years, you may qualify.

Persons included as qualified adults on a qualifying social welfare payment can also access the BTEA scheme, provided they satisfy the scheme conditions.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I was hoping I could tweak that to suit me, as I was planning on applying for BTEA ONLY after I became 21, but since it's start date of chosen course... :\ guess not.

    Well, thanks!
