    Hi

I currently have Sky + but I am looking to get rid and save some dosh. I am looking for advice on a good box or set up so I can view the irish and uk channels and record. There seem to be hundreds of options out there, but I am hoping someone on here may have a good set up.

I was looking at the Humax HDR-1000S/500GB which is 265.00 on amazon for the uk channels side of things. But trying to figure a good option for saorview.

ok the best option is the humax hdr as above but there is a cheaper version that is still available. look for humax direct. what i did was add a humax freeview hd box and an external Hard dive. The freeview box is tiny and sits on top of the freesat hdr. You ahve 2 remotes but you can fix it so one remote works each box and does not conflict. I have a panasonic tv so quite a few inputs. i use scart for saorview and scart for freesat but in addition i use hdmi with a soundbar. it all works a treat. the latest freeview hd is this one
    http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/prodCat.asp?cat=factory&type=hdstb
    has built in hd.

note it has twin tuners so will pick up mux1 amd mux 2 ie watch one rerocd another.

the hdr I have for freesat is this one
    http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10105

so £139 plus £129 = £268 = top notch. Nothing can beat this combination for simplicity.

it then depends how much extra you want. if you search fleabay you may get even better prices.

    ok

How did you manage to have the two remotes that did not conflict with the Humax PVR, the Freeview HD and Freesat HD?
I have the HDR-Fox T2 for over a year and is a brillance PVR.
I added to this is the Foxsat-HDR/500-G. I am returning this PVR and getting the newer FreeTime HDR-1000S/1TB-G

Thanks, Brillance, no more conflicts with the Humax remotes.
