Getting rid of Sky... Best way to get channels

My parents have a sky subscription for TV & sports, costing almost €70 a month, in the sitting room. In the kitchen they have a saorview box. Bar the sports, they really have all the channels they need in the kitchen. I can't see how they can justify paying for sky, nor can they any more. Am thinking a saorview box with a dvr and a netflix subscription would get them almost everything they need for a fraction of the cost. Is there any way to pick up the sports alone from sky?
