So, i wanted to sell items on ebay for a profit (new items not used) however im not sure if i have to pay vat and register as a business. I looked around and found that the threshold for goods is €75,000 and for "Distance sales" its €35,000. Does that mean i can sell goods without registering as a business if i dont go over that threshold. Or do i have to register as a business anyways. Also , Would ebay sales count as "Goods" or "Distance sales".

    There are two separate processes.

It you are going to trade under your own name, you do not need to register a business name. So Joe Bloggs trading as "Joe Bloggs" or "Bloggs" doesn't need to register. "Bloggs Widgets" or "Acme Widgets"does need to register. It you want limited company protection, you need to register.

You will have to register with Revenue for income tax purposes.

Only if you expect to go over the threshold should you register for VAT, unless there would be a particular reason for you to register anyway, e.g. if you would be a net beneficiary from the VAT regime, like a milk man.
Also , Would ebay sales count as "Goods" or "Distance sales".
    Distance sales.

Stated eBay fees include 15% VAT for residents of the EU. This is calculated at the Luxembourg rate of VAT

Just to add to above advice
