Watermill SS45DLV Pump Stopped Working - Advice needed

There is a Watermill SS45DLV Pump in our two bed apartment which has stopped working. Plumber took a quick look and said he was unsure if power was getting to the pump; so we had an electrician look and he confirmed there was power to the connections on the top of the pump under the black cover.

So is the pump knackered, does it need to be replaced or?

When we turn on the taps it no longer kicks in.

If it needs to be replaced what is the "like for like" option and where is the best place to purchase? Is this something that is a straight swap out/replace that I could do myself or?

Should I look to get repaired, if yes, where?

    Advice welcome. Thanks!

You've had a plumber & an electrician out & neither of them can fault find....

Firstly, you would need to determine how far the power is getting to, obvious power is going into the transformer so you would need to determine what voltage is coming out of it to the pump, i.e. the low voltage side circa 35volts.
Then see if there is sufficient water flow across the flow switch to operate. If not, check valves, pump filters, etc.
Motor brushes could be worn or dirty also. These can be cleaned/repaired.
Failing that, unit pcb could be faulty.

Best is to call a shower pump repair specialist or call Modern Plant in Dublin as it is a Grundfos unit.

    Thanks for your reply.

The Plumber just called on his way home from work when finishing for Christmas and checked for power with some kind of device that you hold against something that has power and it lights up. He said he did not think power was going from transformer to pump and have an electrician check.

Electrician did confirm power from the transformer was reaching the pump, he had the black cover off the pump and was showing me voltage was making it there and when he turned off the transformer switch at the wall the power voltage dropped to zero. I do not recall what the voltage was though when it was on his meter.

So am I better now getting the plumber back to check some of the above? Or going straight to a pump repair specialist?

Who would be a recommended pump repair specialist in North Co Dublin or would Modern Plant recommend someone?

Lastly, considering the above would the callout of a pump repair specialist including even minor repair costs be getting into the area of new pump money?

Let me know any further thoughts. Thanks!

Plumbers tool would not light when testing a low voltage circuit. It would only light from a 230v circuit.

I would go for a call out as it maybe a fairly simple fix such as a blocked filter or a bit of filing of the brushes. And failing that, pump specialists would carry new pumps with them & could swap one out whilst there.

You might get a recommendation here or failing that give Modern Plant a call when they are back open.

Modern Plant are the importer and distributers of Stuart Turner /Monsoon pumps, Watermill pumps were a badged product by Shires who no longer exists, your only hope is The Shower Doctor in Parkwest, dont hold out to much hope Watermill pumps were always problematic and poor quality.

Thanks. I thought Watemill was owned by Grundfos & Modern Plant also being the agents for Grundfos.

So what would be a "like for like" replacement? To be fair the pump has lasted years with zero issues.

I will try the shower doctor also.

Modern Plant are not agents for Grundfoss pumps.

I was put through them for a warranty call on a Grundfos twin impeller pump & they sent out their service engineer to fix it.

    Dont think so.

I must have been dreaming so......

Unit was purchased through DPL (Waterford) who picked it up specifically in person from Modern Plant & unit went faulty. It went through Modern Plant as a warranty call as I had to speak to the service guy myself.

DPL Waterford dont sell Stuart Turner Pumps from Modern Plant, they sell Grundfoss pumps as supplied by Grundfoss in Ballymount RD Dublin, and as Modern Plant are a sole distributer of Stuart Turner Pumps they didnt and could service a pump they dont distribute.

I could be wrong but I thought it was Modern Plant. Doesn't matter anyhow.

2 bar universal single outlet pump.

My existing pump has 4 pipe connections does that not make it a twin or?

Also any recommendations on a replacement, sub €200.

Yes yours is a twin impeller.
For noise & quality reasons, I would go for a brass bodied pump. €200 mark, you are really going to be on the very low end of the market & definitely plastic body, if any.
