I've only played the new one and I'd recommend it. The old one didn't look nearly as interesting.

Depends on your handicap and how challenging you want your round to be :pac:

The new course has more hazards, particularly water. Also depending on which tees you play from some holes have rather long carries over water. The old course is more forgiving IMHO.

My preference is the old course - have always enjoyed it.

I've played both courses a number of times and although the new course is a much tougher challenge, you will enjoy the old course more if your handicap is 16+. Lady members in the Headfort club tend not to play the new course at all, ditto with societies. It is just too severe.

Old is pleasant, new is tougher and would play fairly long this time of the year. Both have excellent greens anytime i played them. Wouldn't hesitate to take a trip to play either.

The New is much bigger, as mentioned there is a couple of big carries required. But there is extra width for its length, so quite often you will get away with a fade or slice. Couple of temporary greens at the mo.

The Old is shorter, tighter. Not so bad at this time of year, but in high summer, you will need something low to get the ball out from under the trees.

The New is just so much more 'Out there' nature, wildlife, away from it all. Old is a bit formula Parkland compared to new

I tend to mix up the courses, as the New feels much older.

Agree with posts above, if you are reasonable golfer and fancy a challenge I'd go new but if you would like a lovely pleasant game on a good mature golf course go old.
