Just looking for ideas here - the next door neighbours Pajero has been giving trouble (overheating etc) for quite some time now.

It played up again the other day - and maybe the best option might be to put the damn thing out of its misery (scrap it :().

Would like to hear the boards motors suggestions as to potential RELIABLE replacement 4 x 4 type stuff towards cheaper end of the market.

Have been looking at the Vitaras and they are seeming better value all the time.
Some low milage examples kicking round on DD for reasonable money.

How do the diesels hold up reliability wise - one of the local Mechanics here reckons they aren't great.

However that's completely at odds at what ive heard about Peugeot engined Vitaras elsewhere .

He claims his contact at an engine rebuilder/refurb type place sees them in for work a bit - apparently amongst other things whole head has to come off to get injectors out.

Thanks a million for suggestion though - I think a well minded Vitara could be a potentially good purchase.

    Thanks again
