2TB Sky+HD box problem

Maybe this affects all boxes but I have the 2tb one not with built in wifi I had to buy the dongle.
Anyway after the high winds my satellite dish has moved so the sky box isn't getting any signal, freesat box also not getting a signal upstairs. When I came home from visiting relations i was still able to watch stuff in the planner, for a few hours anyway. Then all of a sudden the sky box couldn't find anything in the planner or on demand. I switched it off at the mains and then when I turned it back on all I get in the planner is "Your Sky+HD box is initialising please wait"

Could the box have an issue or if I get someone to align the dish will it sort itself out? It's 13 months old so just out of warranty.

It may be waiting for a signal to confirm your subscription, which will then allow playback. Try it in a neighbours house to confirm.

Either that or the hard drive is bust inside the box!

My recordable Sky Box is also faulty now after the bad weather. Sky have sent a signal but it is still breaking up on every channel. I still have everything recorded on the Planner. The second room box is not effected.

We have booked an engineer with Sky and they can't come out to us until Jan 13th - they have told us that if we need a new box we will loose everything we have recorded on the Planner.

Is there anyway to avoid loosing everything - surely there is some way of getting the data off the old box - anyone know if there is and if the customer service agent is correct?
