Some cars can pull white off, non premium estate cars can't.

white. personally i've found white one of the easiest coloured cars to keep clean. it looks better on the kia too.

also bare in mind noting says "i have no interest in motoring" more than owning a kia, and nothing says "i have no opinion or personality" more than picking silver as your car colour, so to redeem yourself somewhat, that car has to be white :).

    (i joke :P)

That silver isn't normal silver though

true. it's not the worst tone as silver goes.

are they the only two colour options available OP?

Yeah fair enough on the white - don't want black, silver is boring, gun metal grey looks dull. Yeah its white or that silver really. My own car is similar to that silver in colour. Don't want it to look cheap(er) than it is which is the danger in the white.

Father has a black new model ceed and like all newer paints it's a bit soft.

I went for white to hide marks and it's excellent for hiding swirl marks and the one stone chip to date. It's early days but I'd be tempted to go for it again as it's simple to keep clean too.

If you can get the 17 inch alloys off the platinum model. They would look well with pearlcresent white on one.

The best money you could spend on upgrades would be on the 1.6 diesel over the 1.4

Pity they never did a platinum estate. The fathers 5 door is seriously equipped for the money. Xenons, nav, leather (well pleather anyway), heated seats and steering wheel, electric seats, full length glass sun roof, self parking, camera, LED dials for a very small amount more than those straight sale.

And bar one or two small things I'd be tempted by one.

How long do ye plan on keeping it. White can look alrite for a few years, but to me anyway, it seems to get grubby and tired really quick. Personally, I don't think it's a car that white looks good on, but its up to you!

White is very easy to keep looking reasonably well and doesn't show the dirt anywhere near as much as a dark colour to my surprise when I got a white car. Very difficult to get looking perfect though!

I'll be picking one of these up in January as well, looking forward to that new car feeling. Hurry up Christmas and finish already!

Agree, going with the 1.6EX as the 1.4 is sans gut in the estate. They do a 4Tech version in the UK which has stitched leather and Sat Nav and all the bits you call out and it looks really sweet. Why oh why we can't get that here grates on me. But for the same money you're probably into a poverty spec higher marque. I guess that's what the Irish market wants.

Anyway its for the wife. I've got the luxuries in my own car so practicality wins for this one.

I have looked high and low all around the 22k range and aside from a used M6 :) nothing better out there that will deliver on all the boring things that's needed for a family 2nd car.

I'm steering away from white now, that goody/silver in the lead despite the poll.

Have driven both, rented an i30 when I drove the Grossglockner Alpine Road in the summer and had it for 2 weeks. I just don't like the i30 I don't think it stacks up in any department personally.

When resale value and drab colour choices become primary factors in your car purchasing decisions, it's time to buy a mobility scooter and be done with it.

Buy one for the wife, and buy something fun for yourself with the change. Buy something 10 years old and you'll get a holiday out of it too. The wife doesn't have to know..... ;)

Haha. I deserve that but my car is a cracker (in my opinion) so forgive me in indulging the missis in a little practicality.

Was it the current model or the 07 shape like this one you drove?

The current i30 and ceed are essentially the same thing underneath with small differences

We looked at both when we had narrowed the criteria down. Bodywise they have the same shell, but they say that the internals are completely different. The 1.6 in the Kia is 128 BHP versus 110 BHP in the Hyundai. They both have a few different options, with the Kia having a couple of things extra such as parking sensors and privacy glass. After that, I personally prefer the look of the Kia.

I know as a whole they are similar and the Kia may not be seen as the most exciting drive, but it should be a comfortable place to be, while at least giving some good extras.
