Antwerp, Engagement Ring, New Years Week!!

Hi all,

Have recently got engaged and planned to take my fiancé to buy the engagement ring in Antwerp New Years week. I have flights and some accommodation booked and we are in Antwerp from the 1 Jan to the 5 Jan.

We sent an email to a diamond jeweller in the diamond district to make an appointment and he informed us that it was diamond district holidays and that all reputable shops would be closed until the 6 January. He advised us to cancel our trip as only tourists shops would be open on such dates.

Has anybody been to Antwerp during this period or does anybody have any information on the above matter????

Just back and I would definitely recommend you make your trip. Word of advice, unless you know your diamonds or have alternative knowledge you are taking a gamble on buying outside the below. We went to all three of the places above.

We got ours from Sophie in JOAILLERIE DU CENTRE 3 weeks ago - couldn't recommend her or her father enough - so nice and so helpful.

My friend got her one from Phillipe Harrold last month(went over to collect it last Monday). It is beautiful and she had great service from them. It took about 5 weeks to make it.

Phileppe was the owner in question who said no reputable jewellers were open until the 6th, however we have been in contact with two jewellers (JOAILLERIE DU CENTRE B.V.B.A) and " Sleats" which was recommended by a friend so hopefully will have a good choice when we get over. Fingers crossed!!!

+1 JOAILLERIE DU CENTRE B.V.B.A!
In our experience you will get choice, approach and price. I met with Phileppe whilst over. Rightly or wrongly he tends to speak outside his station. We got the impression it didnt completely suit him to meet us when we we're over. Be very careful if you buy outside of ADJA members, according to Phileppe apparently Genetti we're booted out.
