Living in Seoul

Been thinking of going to teach English in Seoul, just wondering if anyone here has experience of living there, and has it been a positive experience? I'd have Thailand as my preferred destination having been there and loving it (Chiang Mai in particular), but I hear the money is way better in S.Korea. Also, as an aside, if people have taught English there, what's it like? Cheers for any info

I haven't lived in Seoul but have lived in other parts of korea for almost two years now. It's a great country and yes, the money is far better than SE Asia, as is your potential to save cash here. The cost of living is low and ESL teachers generally get free accommodation, health insurance and severance at the end of a 12 month contract. There are plenty of expats here and so there's an array of clubs and activities to do where you can meet people, both local and fellow immigrants. Gaelic, soccer, rugby, running clubs, etc.

Search the job listings on websites like waygook.org and koreabridge and get in touch with a few recruiters. They'll steer you the right way.
