    Actually the route is now served by Norwegian I believe, possibly year round, I'm not sure.

    this is the reply from aer lingus;

    Thank you for contacting aerlingus.com. I apologise for the delay in responding to you.
    The Dublin to Helsinki route was discontinued due to a lack of demand and there are no plans at present to re-introduce this route.
    We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.
    I hope this information is of help.

    Kind Regards,
    Brian,
    CCC Helpdesk

    I dont think any of the companies are doing direct flights?

    My apologies, it was Norwegian air rather than Finn Air I should have said. I think two days the route is direct, the others via Oslo.

    Norwegian are flying dub- helsinki direct again in 2014 twice a week from april to october- mondays and fridays.
    interesting reply from aer lingus as norwegian only started flying this route in summer 2013 but i found them to be cheaper than aer lingus.as an irishman living in finland i thought competion on the route was a great thing so now i hope Norwegian dont take advantage on prices with no more aer lingus.

    thanks for that, very helpful. lets hope like you said the dont hike the prices up now. strange ryanair or someone doesn't fly there direct.

    Ryanair used to fly dublin -tampere but stopped a few years ago. interestingly finnair used to fly Dub- hel too until aer lingus started the route so i guess only one airline is needed for the demand.i used both aer lingus and norwegian a few times this year and they seemed to be both doing well on the dub- hel route.

    I didn't know about finnair but flew with aer lingus a few times and was always busy, never had a problem with them. Even spoke with the Finnish embassy in dublin before about this who asked aer lingus to keep the route going all year round but again said there is no demand!
