I bought two ROM's from Hong Kong for this project. You need to match the type of ROM with the mask ROM on the PCB in order to save a headache rewiring pins. A bouncy young chap from J+ burned the ROM's for me, saving me the need to purchase a ROM burner for a one-time use. :)

Back in October I picked up copies of Air Management I and II for the Mega Drive. Unfortunately both games have no extra English language feature enabled via a switch-modded console.

The USA releases have crap artwork so I decided to look at converting my Japanese games to the USA versions and keep the look of the Japanese box art and labels.

    I used:

    2x 1mb matching 42 pin EPROMS.
1x Hairdryer (to lift the cart label)
    1x Cross head screwdriver
    1x Soldering Iron
    1x Lead solder
    1x Solder wick
    1x Solder sucker

After heating the labels I unscrewed the two screws that hold each cart together.

The tricky part is desoldering the Rom from the PCB. Once removed I simply swapped out the ROM and soldered it back in. Simple!

No rewiring required. Though I will replace the batteries soon. All is working great!

I can only suggest that if Ry*nair changed their name to Sexair and the cabin crew dress policy they'd get lots more bookings!
The artist formerly known as Enternow produced my Earthbound, the lovely genius that he is.
Kerbdog did for my copy of Mario RPG on the Snes.

Very similar to the procedure used to convert Mother 2 to Earthbound. Good job Pyong STG.Otaku :)
