Magic eye wont work

All, I have my sky plus box in the loft with magic eyes working the TVs in each room. I've put a TV in another room and attached a magic eye to it but sky won't change. Red light is on but no joy. I've tried a magic eye from a TV that works but no luck even though the red light is on each time. The new magic eye will work on an existing TV if I stand on the remote control which isn't great either.

    Any ideas???

I was with you up until 'stand on the remote': you mean it needs heavy & prolonged pressure on the buttons to have an effect?

    Exactly.

And this 'standing on the remote' is only necessary with the new magic eye? It works normally with the others?

Yep, remote control is fine with two other tv's.

You could do worse than have a look at this.

What are you using to split the Sky box RF output to the 3 TVs?

How is the new room wired, through a wall socket or is it directly ran??

If through a wall socket open it up and if there is a green circuit board backplate you will need to remove it as it wont allow a magic eye to send a signal back, light will switch on.

Wired through the wall socket. I opened it up but no backplate. :(

there has to be a backplate...either a metal or a circuit board...either way I would recommend bypassing it and using a f barrel joiner and 2 f connectors...

Is the same kind of wall plate used at the TVs where the eyes do work?

Is there only a single socket in the wall plate?

I asked already but, are they the same at the TV points where the eyes work?

You might be better off transferring your attentions elsewhere then. How is the signal from the Sky box distributed to the TVs?

How have you split the signal to the extra point you are adding? Are you using an amplifier??
