    Hi all,

Am looking to raise rafter ties to head height. There are currently three. Would increase them to six if I raised them. Any opinions?

They can be raised however I would double up on the number of them ie on every 3 or so spars.measure an existing one(length)work out how long the ties would be if you half it,get 2 new ties install them first, then remove the existing tie half it.Keep going like that, you only need to buy timber for the first two ties.

Worked a treat. Thanks again, started with 3, now there's 9 and no fear of head injury when retrieving the Christmas decorations next year.

Happened to have a box of bolts so put one into each end of each collar, could swing out of them now but will resist the urge. Many thanks!
