VRT Methods of Payment

I recall that when I paid VRT on a car imported previously that a Bank Draft was required for amounts over €1500. Up to that amount could be paid by card.

I was wondering is that still the limit for Debit Cards. I need to pay approx €3,400 on 2nd Jan and haven't found anything definitive on searching.

I will ring tomorrow if it is still unclear but just doing some homework here.

    Regards

    How can I pay?
The NCTS Centre will also collect the VRT charge (and other tax liabilities) on behalf of Revenue. You can pay this charge either by:

    Cash (Up to €200)
    Laser Card (Up to €1,500)
Bank Draft (payable to Applus Car Testing Service)
Credit Card (This method of payment incurs a 1.5% administration charge which is imposed by the NCTS centre)

    Tks Colm

It mentions Laser Cards but not Debit Cards and I'm unclear if the same limit applies, thats what I was hoping to clarify if anyone has done it recently with a Debit Card.

I know bank of Ireland replaced laser cards with visa debit cards so you should be ok.
Aldi say cash or laser too but visa debit works.

I paid a similar amount with my Visa Debit card a few weeks ago. One thing I hadn't thought to do though was authorise my account for such a large transaction. A quick phone call to my bank and it went through 5 minutes later.
