Thank you for at least your reply.

I have never built/assembled a computer before, my list of parts was trying to show that i was trying to learn and understand what parts work together.

after reading this tread for quiet a while i never thought i would see somebody laugh at a person trying to build their own computer.

SLKSHT... obviously the AMD FX-6300 WAS A MISTAKE

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭Slksht

Wow man I wasn't laughing at you! Certainly not in a nasty way, it was just a humorous error.

I am also new to building but I will certainly try and put together a build for you to help out. There are several people on here a lot more experienced than both of us who will hopefully advise further.

Go with your original PSU. Modular one be handy for first time build. Cheaper too.

If you're not going to overclock get the non k version of the CPU.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭Slksht

I don't think a 500w psu is enough for that GPU and allowing for possible upgrades. That's only from what I've read not experience. Minimum recommended is 600w for the normal 760.

Have edited the original build with the non overclock i5 as suggested and a modular Corsair psu for approximate the same money as the be quiet. Also have updated it with the prices from Geizhals!

They can all be replaced if you need the parts ASAP.

I think that's a pretty solid build mate! Just wait for one of the more experienced lads to come in and give it the once over in case I've missed something :)

450W/500W is plenty for a single 760 and or even a few more powerful ones, the GTX760 cards only uses about 200W under load. Its not enough good enough for two of course but we'd need a better motherboard anyway if SLI was on the cards.

    http://www.anandtech.com/show/7103/nvidia-geforce-gtx-760-review/16

GPU manufactures tend to inflate the stated power requirements because there are alot of crappy PSUs out there, so they need to cover their asses. :)

    http://www.hardwareversand.de/400+-+500+Watts/82763/be+quiet%21+PURE+POWER+L8+500W.article

I'd recommend getting this psu instead. Be quiet and corsair are very well knownaand trustedbbrandsfor power ssupply and that's very important to for that component. Your dvd drive just gets a power supply.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 whatnot

Thanks slksht u have been very helpful.
one last question i cant seem to find windows 8.1 dvd on hardwareversand any link ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

As suggested get the corsair or be quiet. The corsair 500w "modular" one you originally picked would be your best bet. Or if not available the be quiet will do.
(modular means the cables can separate from the psu box making it much easier for keeping wires neath for good cable management which = better airflow and cooling in your case)

The monitor you choose has no hdmi interfaces are you ok with that?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭Slksht

I did noticetthat but the DVI is perfectly acceptable for gaming. Only difference really is that DVI doesn't carry digital sound isn't it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 whatnot

thanks sterlingarcher, trying to order today and a lot of parts out of stock, should i get extra cooling fans?
the monitor looks good value and it will only be used for the pc

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭Slksht

If they're back in stock soon enough I wouldn't worry too muc. HWVS have a very transient stock supply and I wouldn't keep changing my build around it uunless a part is unavailable for a long time

Monitor you selected is grand. Just giving you other options.

It's more a resale value thing. Should he be selling it on down the road. Best to have what everyone might like.

Just so you know there is a huge selection of monitors on amazon free delivery. Not to mention Amazon's good customer service.

You picked a good case and are not overclocking. cooling won't be an issue right away you could always pick them up again. But if you want them now sure.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 319 ✭✭Slksht

That is true. They have a huge selection of everything really an sorting it by free super saver delivery is helpful. Theaamount of reviews is also a godsend for buyingtech parts

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,767 ✭✭✭SterlingArcher

I see your predicament. All the power supplies I'd have recommended from hwvs are all red stock which can be annoying.

    Are you building yourself?

Iv looked on amazon for you with converted rates you would pay same price for the 500w on amazon as you would the 600w on hwvs.

How tight is your budget? And where is it at with your current parts all together.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30 whatnot

    hi sterling
the budget was set to try and work with the XFX Radeon R9 280X i dont want to go over 1100, with monitor and windows i know its tight.
but i dont want to waste money, with the hope of upgrading parts 2/3 years
XFX Radeon R9 280X also not in stock

Nice hdmi monitor. Amazon have a good selection of psus too so source what you can from HWVS And then find the out of stock parts or similar ones on Amazon

Ok cool. Well xfx r9 280x. You dodged a bullet there. For 4 euro more the MSI is much better cooling/noise. But forget about that **** now.

With your current selection you're just down to PSU being out of stock? And what are your parts coming to without the PSU.
