I thought this deserved it's own thread as it's absolutely brilliant.

For anyone who has adjusted an arcade monitor CRT before, you know well that several games have test grid patterns etc which allow you to get the geometry and colour right.

The best one I've come across is that for CPS2 boards. It's brilliant for adjusting monitors.

Anyway, I decided to play with the geometry on my Sony Trinitron this evening.

Big problem I'm sure folks have experienced with this - no nice test patterns like with arcade boards. I was trying to find a game which even had a grid pattern for the geometry, but was completely out of luck.

Until I had all my prayers answered in one almighty rom!

For anyone with an Everdrive, check this out. Its called 240p test suite and comes in the form of a Megadrive rom.

It has a huge array of testing options. From the CPS2 test patterns I mentioned above (still can't believe it!!) to other industry standards, scrolling tests etc. Absolutely incredible tool if you're ever faced with adjusting a commercial TV.

    Download here.

By the way, if anyone needs the service manual for the Trinitron I have, here it is.

    http://ftp.qrz.ru/pub/hamradio/schemes/tv/sony/FE1_1.pdf

    KV-29X

Shows all the factory service options, how to get to the service menu etc. Really handy.

Interesting fact, the last two digits of the Trinitron model say what region it's from. (Mine's a KV-29X5L - '5L' just means Ireland)

There's also a Dreamcast one too. Might be handy for those without an Everdrive.

I used to use the Dreamcast one. Super handy ISO to have. Anyone with a proper CRT should have these in their toolbox.
