Just a quick question for anyone who has had corns on the sole of their feet.....

10yr old has 1 small corn on the inside of the sole of his right foot, it is not bothering him unless he physically presses his finger on it & it does not hurt him other than that. He is very active but we only noticed it a few weeks ago so don't know how long he has had it.

Really just wondering if he needs to see a doctor or get some kind of cream for it even though it is not causing him any problems?
Or do corns heal/go away by themselves without specific treatment?

I've had a number of corns over the years and they're nothing to really worry about. All they are is a skin callous, but something has to cause them like ill fitting footwear or the like.

I made an appointment with my local chiropodist and she just shaves them off with a scalpel/knife type thing. It didn't hurt and I only realised afterwards how much discomfort they were causing me (it's amazing how the body just gets used to discomfort and comes to think of it as normal). It was like leaving with two new feet. They will also advise as to what might be the cause. I think it cost about €30. I would highly recommend it.

I spent far more than €30 on creams, potions and plasters and none of them did much.
