Returning to college for second degree

My girlfriend has an Arts degree but she has decided that the job opportunities aren't there for her. She is returning to college next year to study Biology.

At the moment she is doing a FETAC course which should allow her to skip the first year of the Biology degree, she is also living with her parents and working every spare minute to save money for college fees.

I'm wondering if there are options open to her for receiving financial assistance? She received a grant to help her out when she did her Arts degree. This time around she is going to have to pay full fees with no financial assistance available, is this correct?

She is resigned to the fact that she will need to get a rather large loan anyway but I'm hoping that there is some assistance that she can get to ease the burden.

If she has a degree already then I don't think any financial assistance is available.

Possibly the student assistance fund but even then I'm doubtful

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Thanks mango salsa, I'll let her know. She wouldn't be eligible for SUSI so?

She definitely wouldn't be eligible to get a SUSI grant
