I've been looking at changing the car for a while and at the moment various BMW dealers around the country have some 131 ex demonstrators that I'm interested in.
Prices are ok, and I have the money now, but I'm wondering if I should hold off for the price to drop at some stage in the new year.

Surely, the price of any particular car should drop somewhat when it gets to be perceived as a full year old - IE when people are driving around in 141 reg vehicles?

Yes, and I think 131 s are going to suffer from 13 syndrome very soon, as is hard to shift.

what can you land in from bmw uk network for your budget? they'll soon have 14 "demos" and if the car you buy is in the BMW network it is safe enough to buy sight unseen over the web, just pay by transfer and fly over and collect.

I had considered that, but the fact that I have a car to trade in makes it a bit awkward. I like the ease of doing a "swap".

At a guess I would say it won't drop until March or so for the advertised price, they may however accept a lower price from next month onwards.

The higher the value and less desirable your own car you are trading in is what you should be worried about, offloading it yourself private would be the best way to save and go direct to the dealer with no trade in required.

Well if the object is to save money on the purchase price then I would advise look outside the BMW dealer network. Their used car asking prices tend to be in a world of their own.

And despite the general perception out there used car prices don't magically drop the first week of January. You normally see some movement around March or April from my experience.
