Deed Poll questions

    Hi everyone.

I've been meaning to do finally do a deed poll. And I was hoping some of you could shed some light on some questions that I have. I've been talking with a friend i know who has also done a deed poll, but he wasn't very clear on the process.

Essentially i'm just wondering, do i have to do it in Dublin? I know that you need to do it on special paper, but i'm in the West, and it's just not possible to go up to Dublin right now. So is there anyway that i can do it where i am (Galway)? I keep getting told different things by different people. And do I need a solicitor to witness my friend signing the deed poll itself?

And i know that this forum prohibits legal advice, so I hope that this isn't legal advice, since its simply just question based.

    Thanks!

I don't know much about it, but HERE looks like a good place to start, looks like you can do it locally.
