Planespotting in the UK

What are the laws/policies on it? I know people do spot all over the place but are some places better than others in terms of the authorities - do they usually mind, especially on the airport ground themselves?

Also even if they don't mind, what about filming? Again I know people do it all the time but are you likely to have someone come and talk to you once in a while? I'm specifically interested in going to Luton.

Complete novice here so apologies for the inevitable naivity of this post!

    Thanks

Nope, they don't mind. Some places actually encourage it in the UK.

Manchester is a great spot. The Runway Viewing Park is a nice spot to spend the day. Good view of the Runways and a few tours of older aircraft including the Concorde.

Many thanks b757. Just had another thought I really should have had first time round - I know transmitting UK atc online and the like is illegal, but what about your own personal use in particular at the airport?

She's not bad, chest and ear infection but she's a little soldier, the little fella is getting it now unfortunately.
DUB has two great spots for spotting, one is basically right across from the threshold of RWY 28 and the other is a little hill on the approach line for RWY 16 (in high winds you could nearly touch the landing gear it gets that close) its a great spot. On most days there is also a mobile food van, keeps the avid spotters with full bellies and happy

EDIT : I know you said UK but seen as when we spoke last you said your frequently in DUB, just thought i'd mention it

Ah no hope they're both 100% soon.

Thanks for DUB - doubtful though as the trips are almost always family related and in and out so to speak :D Annoying that DUB is so good, LTN seems very poor no change there then :P
