Are you in anyway competent with car mechanics?
If so is an easy job once you have the tools for removing the shocks and a set of spring compressors so you can open the front ones.

After that you need all four springs.

Why do you want to put the originals back? What springs are on the car?

Original springs on the e46 are prone to failure, particularly the rear ones. Most people instead of replacing the springs with standard ones, go for lowering springs at the time. Most decent aftermarket spring manufacturers offer lifetime warranty.

I'm not sure what a garage will charge but I would reckon €200-300 plus parts.

If you can change the oil you can do this man genuinely, take your time and follow a online guide and you'd be fine :)

im not sure what size the ones on the car are, but its very low just worried about damaging the car.

It's not hard, did it a couple of times, as was mentioned, get an online guide and follow it! Save yourself the money, after you do the job you'll be delighted you did it yourself because it's not hard at all

Is the car a M Sport by any chance? Are they actually lowered springs or coilovers? Any photos of the car OP so we can get a better understanding of how low they are.

Eibach are about the best aftermarket springs you can buy if you are going down that road.
