s4 charging problem

    I have the phone about 6 months and this problem started a couple of days ago.
    The phone will only charge in usb mode even though it's plugged into the ac charger.
    It takes much much longer to charge (currently at 47% and indicating it will take 3 hours and 20 mins to fully charge, this should take less than an hour) and the phone gets fairly hot.
    Can't find any info online, did a full factory reset but to no avail.
    Anyone encountered a similar problem?

    am having same issue at moment with S3, heard it could be problem with charging port? luckily I have an old S3 At home with a couple of spare batteries.

    Really annoying, it's on charge here now but it's losing power rather than gaining. I don't want to bring it back to carphone warehouse because they will only send it away, and it will be gone for god knows how long leaving me with nothing as I don't have a spare
