Signal to 2nd TV

    Hi all,

Up in Donegal for the festive period and a bit depressed with the TV set-up my mum has.

She has a TV in the living room and has an MVision HD-300 Combo digital satellite receiver to get the UK channels and also a Walker digital receiver to receive the Irish channels. Between the two she can grt all the chanells she needs.

But, she has another TV in the sitting room and I would like to know if it is possible to get the channels on this tv that she has on the tv in the living room without buying another receiver box.

The attached photographs show the available outputs from the back of the respective receiver boxes.

Is it possible for me to run a cable to the other TV from any of these to enable us to view the signal on the other tv?

Note that there is only a coaxial input on the tv in the sitting room.

    Many thanks,

    D.

If there is only a coaxial input on the living room TV, there must be modulators feeding the signal from the receivers. And it must be a seriously old TV. The modulator outputs could be fed to the other TV, over a single coaxial cable.

Also, the Mvision is a combi satellite/terrestrial receiver. Why is the separate Walker Saorview box needed at the same TV? Maybe for Aertel? Or is it the PVR version?

    Peter,

Thanks for the response. The tv in the living room has scart inputs. Not sure why the separate receiver was gotten when she had the combi receiver.

Any way of feeding the signal through?

    Ta.

Ah, I read that wrong. Well, if the sitting room TV only has an input for an aerial cable, the output of any of the receivers will need to be converted to radio frequency (RF), using a modulator, so the TV tuner can handle it.

I'd go for something with the ability to send remote control signals back to the receivers: Triax Tri-Link is a popular choice.

    Thanks for that.

Last question. From the pics are there any output ports that look like they might do the job. What about the aerial out one? Ta.

I wouldn't have advised buying anything if things would work as-is.

The aerial-out on those 2 boxes is just a loopthrough from the aerial-in: the box doesn't add anything to the signal. Some receivers do have a built in modulator: up to recently, all Sky boxes had this feature. Not the case with the Mvision or Walker though.
