Is anyone with these? They are mainly for young drivers under the age of 25 and apparently they are supposed to be cheap?

I am looking at getting insured with a car in my own name. Have the lessons done and I'll be soon applying for the test. Need to be insured fairly soon as I need it for work.

Has anyone tried them? and would they be willing to insure me at a reasonable price?

Can't say I've ever tried them but why not get a quote off them? They have an online form you can fill in.

Best thing to do is get a quote from a selection of insurers. Call around and see what they say. Best of luck with it:)

Most of the sites I've tried won't give a quote to provisional drivers with the car in their own name, I can see why.

Might have a better chance ringing them though, and they maybe more eager to give a quote that way.

    Cheers!

Being totally honest your not in a great position. What litre is your car. Legally an insurance company has to offer you a quote however that quote can be for thousands and that's probably what you will get. Can you go as a named driver on someone else's policy?

Ring the insurance companies don't rely on online quotes. Also try brokers as they are most of the time cheaper. What's your location? If I know of any brokers I will pm them to you

I haven't bought a car yet, because I want to make sure that I'll be able to get insured on it first. I was looking at a 1.9 Diesel Golf or a 1.9 Bora but I doubt I'd get insured on either of them. I was looking at a 1.4 Corolla too as I might have a better chance of getting insured on that.

I could maybe go on a grandparents, as they only have 1 car, but that could still be expensive, as age would probably come into consideration then.

    I'm midlands, Westmeath/Leitrim/Roscommon/Longford.

I am with them. They were cheaper than the 20+ others I tried.

1.9litre would be far too expensive even 1.4 could be expensive but ask them to quote for it aswell as a smaller engine size.

Ill have a look around for local brokers in the area who might be worth a shot

Ridiculous how 1.9 diesel is more expensive than 1.4 petrol. 1.4 performs the same as 1.9 flat diesel and 1.6 petrol is the same as 1.9 turbo diesel.

I bought a 1.7 turbo diesel E36, it was too expensive to insure so I got a 1.4 petrol Astra which was much cheaper to insure and performed a little better too.

A 1.9 TDI as a first car isn't a wise idea tbh. As much as it kills you need to be realistic and understand that your going to be raped on insurance.

You will have a better chance of insuring the corolla but don't be shocked if it's still crazy money. Pick out a few cars that you like (under 1.6) get quotes for them all and takes things from there.
