Obtain postgrad degree abroad- teach in Ireland

I'm considering doing a postgrad in teaching/education in Canada (or possibly Scotland), but the degree that seems to be most available over there is the diploma rather than the PME that is now required over here. I want to keep my options as open as possible, so that If I do decide to come back to Ireland I will still be qualified to teach.

Does anyone know if these degrees are the equivalent of the masters over here, or what can I do to ensure that I will still be able to teach I Ireland if I choose to return?

And yes, I know there are practically no jobs in teaching here at the moment, but just in case.
