    hey gang

ive been home over the xmas and learned that my sister's white macbook 13' (model year 2007) has v low brightness on the screen, even on the brightest setting..

my question is, is there anyway to fix this?

is there a way of artificially brightening the screen with some app or something?

    thanks,

    ed

If you are on 10.6.8, do a repair permission on Disk Utility as it has happened a fair few users. Also, go into System Preferences and ensure that your brightness settings are all in order. Lastly you could upgrade to Maverick thought you may consider this a bit drastic.

If these steps don't help then fact facts that the 6 year old screen may be just fading through old age.

Hey OP, have you tried System Preferences > Accessibility > Display > Enhance Contrast?

If the above does not fix it the 2007 model has an old CCFL backlight and they DO fade over time. However you should be able to pick up a new screen for under 100 euro on ebay.
