Mine wasn't a big job but I know he has some high end clients. Sure give him a call and discuss I suppose.

Looks like a good professional set up. How did the paintwork turn out on yours, was it flawless?

I was happy with it but he's assured me that it's not the finished article, it needs a trip out for a final cut and polish.

I'm pretty fussy I've spent 6 years and lots of hard earned cash and I wouldn't accept a job like most would do but ultimately not as fussy as Alex.

This person does not exist! Even Alex Hynes in Wexford does not want your business. I have been down to him so many times to get work done and he will not quote even when money is no object!

I'm very fussy when it comes to paint, for that reason I've left my car with Lanes Autobody, Marty is highly recommended.

This is how mine looks now, due for paint in the new year.

The Golf looks well, have you experience with these guys in the past or do you know someone who has used them?

i honestly think you may have bother finding someone to do the job , the words "money is not an issue" or similar is something most bodymen do not like to hear in my experience , also a lot of bodymen wont take on jobs depending on attitude of the customer , seen that happen up here a lot over the years and some of the bodymen were top class , they just dont want to be bothered with someone that could potentially complain or spread word of bad workmanship when it isnt the case , and it has happened to a few

    Hi Scarface,

Anywhere but Cork huh.....well if your north of Dublin these fellas had some of the most expensive cars around sat in there workshop when i went visited, i had no work done by them but what was being done by them was stunning, cleanest best looking cars around, this is where i'd be heading if i had the bobs.

    Good luck

I see what youre saying but all I mean is im willing to pay the higher price for better end result. For example theres a crowd here in Cork would do me a respray for 3000, theres also a guy who would do it for 1500, now I know which one I would be taking it to thats for sure! ;)

    Marty Lane painted this:

Magazine featured, show winner.... He's well worth talking to

I can't see how a good spray job can be done for €1500 when quality paint and lacquer plus sundries would come to around €1000.

a higher price will not always mean a better job in some cases (most cases actually ;) ) , theres a few mentioned in the thread that are more than capable of putting out a good job at a sensible price

Lanes are well worth call imo :)

I'd only go with personal recommendations if i was you op and go and see their previous work and talk to their customers. I'd be very wary of taking any recommendations from somebody on here with 8 or 9 posts to their credit.

Another vote from me for Lanes. As mentioned above, my E30 was just painted by Marty and it's very good!

I would take it the 8 or 9 posts comment was directed at me??? Did you yourself start out on the forum with more posts?? Im just curious as to how the amount of posts I have is relevant to or in anyway detracts from my recommendation of Lanes?? Ive no connection to lanes btw ,but have seen his work,, and you dont know me from adam to be making a post like that on my opinion

It was probably referring to more than just you but I wouldn't worry about it.

In any event, low post counts are more relevant when someone registers just to post to support a particular business - I don't think that its an issue on this thread.

FWIW Marty painted one of my fleet two years ago and did a fantastic job.

Edit: I've ten posts now so I'm clearly more trustworthy than I was earlier today :)

I presume you mean mr Pennypacker above? Do I have enough posts behind me to make me any more credible?

The Audi he linked above was my car til I sold it last year. Marty at Lanes Autobody near Sallins did the paint job on it and to say he's a perfectionist would be understating it. You can see the overall shots in the link above but here are some closer ones.

this is the reflection of the junk in my garage via the flank of the car:

    and part-way through the build-up:

I've had two cars I've restored painted by Lanes, the Audi above and a '76 beetle and both have been finished to an extremely high standard by Lanes.

I'm not aiming it at you or any individual just seen guys on here and other forums before hyping up the image of themselves or a friend to generate work. From what i'm seeing Lanes looks like a good bet and thanks for the tip.
