I thought I'd be doing a race on Saturday; did a tough (for me) session today - 5 x 1k repeats - thinking I would have a day to recover.

Turns out the race is tomorrow.

Is that a big no-no, to run hard like that two days in a row, vis a vis injury.....

Would a good long warm up counter the effects.....or foam rolling a lot tonight....

I hadnt run on Wednesday or Tuesday, ran fairly easy on Monday.

    Thanks.

You didn't mention how long the race was. Regardless, it comes down to two things:
    1) How important the race is to you?
    2) How do you feel?

The race can't be that important, or you wouldn't have been planning a session two days before the race (and you'd have an idea what day it was taking place on). So just run as hard as you can, within the limitations of how you are feeling. It's common sense; run as hard as you can, don't hurt yourself.

    Stress
    Recovery
    Adaptation
The issue here isn't whether the session an race are too tightly packed
The issue is will you be recovered.
It's never to be recommended that you'd do this but you have and now you have to make the best of it
Try abs speed recovery up as much as possible, the lighter load earlier in the week will have helped.

Thanks for the answers folks. The decision was made for me because the race was cancelled anyway due to weather (was cross country through a wooded area and was dangerous with the high winds).

Anyway, I think I would have opted out anyway as I just didn't want the risk of injury.
