My friend is looking to buy a gaming rig. He would prefer to buy pre built but Ive almost convinced him to build it himself as it works out a lot cheaper and will get better value for money
    1. What is your budget? Probably maxed out at 700

    2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? Gaming.

    3. Do you need a copy of Windows? No

    4. Can you use any parts from an old computer? no

    5. Do you need a monitor? yes

    6. Do you need any of these peripherals? Yes Keyboard and Wireless Dongle/card

    7. Are you willing to try overclocking? Not really

    8. How can you pay? Any depending on where the parts are coming from

    9. When are you purchasing? Soon enough. By the end of January

    10. If you need help building it, where are you based? Limerick

I already built a gaming rig in the summer but I had a lot of spare parts around which my friend doesnt have. At the moment he only has a laptop with a mouse so his starting point is a mouse :P I might have a case for him but it may be too small http://www.ebay.ie/itm/Intel-Core-I5-3470-Gaming-PC-1tb-8gb-1600mhz-GTX-660-2gb-Galaxy-P8Z-Computer-/140910132534?pt=UK_Computing_DesktopPCs&hash=item20cee5fd36

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried to mimic my build but the prices were different at the time

    I have
    Intel Xeon E3-1230v2, boxed, LGA1155
    8GB-Kit G-Skill RipJaws PC3-12800U CL9
    Sapphire HD 7950
    ASRock ZH77 Pro3, Sockel 1155, ATX
    Corsair 620W PSU
I now have a 500 GB HDD because my old 1TB gave in so Id probably put a 1TB in his.

If you can get close to that so he can max out games it would be good.

Im not sure if something like this would do the trick?
Anyway, something to get you started and have a look at I suppose.

    Item|Price
    BenQ GW2255|€99.00
    Seagate Barracuda 7200 1000GB, SATA 6Gb/s|€48.89
AMD FX-6300 Prozessor, Boxed, Sockel AM3+|€96.49
    MSI 970A-G43, AMD Sockel AM3+, ATX, DDR3|€54.89
    BitFenix Merc Beta|€32.89
    Corsair Builder Serie CX430 V3 Non-Modular 80+ Bronze, 430 Watt|€36.87
    XFX Radeon R9 280X 1000M Boost, 3GB GDDR5|€255.30
    8GB-Kit G.Skill PC3-10667U CL9|€62.05
    TP-Link TL-WN781N, 150Mbps, PCIe x1|€9.56
    Shipping|€18.99
    Total|€714.93

You'l need to source Keyboard from somewhere else.

Looks good. I'll let him know. What would you recommend upgrading first if there was money available. May be able to source a monitor or at least a cheaper one.

Anyone doing a build these days should always have an SSD for OS. Once you go SSD you'll wonder how you didnt have one all along. Can be picked up for around 80-90 for a Samsung 840 Evo 120GB.

    Is a 430W PSU not pushing it a little with a 6300 and 280x?

Okay. Bit of an update. Now has a monitor got and budget has gone up to €750. Any change in the build?

So that is 750 just for the desktop, no windows.

Yes. May try and order it prebuilt off hardwareversand. He isn't confident in building it himself. Has a windows 7 disc

    P.S

    Love the name "phrasing"

Think he meant for OS and then install games on HDD? I'd pick up an SSD but already have a lot of stuff installed on my HDD. Don't want to have to reinstall windows and all my games for the sake of some extra speed

Even a smaller one gives a much smoother experience in general though.

Assuming the monitor has been got elsewhere I'd go for the ssd and a better case op maybe slightly bigger psu although the 430 is ok. GPU and CPU look good fine.

Yeah put in a 650W one for him. Anyone have experience of hardwareversand building it for you. Apparently it's only an extra €5 (assuming you'll get screwed on shipping tho)

Its fine, just open the case and check that everything is fine and no loose cables. Got three pre built from them and all were fine bar one with a loose connection.

Cheers. Yeah he doesn't really want to build it himself. Do they send discs (for drivers) with the computer? Since he won't be getting an OS with it they won't be updating the drivers for him.

You dont have a disc drive in the build but generally I download the updated drivers from the manufacturers website

I've included one in his build for like €15.

    Just the tip ;)

When you are filling out the order you get to leave a note for the person assembling. Ask nicely for neat cable management.

Dont get them to build it. They have a poor track record according to people on here.

Got three pcs built from them and never had a problem except a loose cable in one.
