I am working for the HSE and I am deducted PSRI, PRD and Pension 170 from my paycheque. Does anyone know if it is possible to opt out of any of these or to reduce the rates? I want to increase my take-home pay each month...

    Advice/help would be much appreciated.

Income tax and USC are compulsory taxes on all/most income.

PRSI is compulsory social insurance, for reasons too complex to explain here.

Public servants must pay substantial pension contributions - the main cont plus the recent PRD pension contribution. These are compulsory.

One way to cut your tax bill is to increase your pension conts by making AVCs.

However, this will reduce your take-home pay.
