    Hi all,
I'm having trouble with the max volume level on the standard podcast app on the 5S. When I'm on a long journey and connected to my car kit via Bluetooth, I can't hear the volume well enough to make out the dialogue. My car kit can't boost the volume so I'm looking for options to safely boost the audio output from the phone.

    Is this possible?

Maybe your EU limit is turned on!

Try going to Settings > Music > Volume Limit and make sure its set to Max.

Give that a go, its unusual that it would be that low.

No the volume limit isn't set. It's more a problem with my Bluetooth car kit combined with a noisy 1ltr engine on the motorway!

The EU volume cap can't be disabled via volume limit settings. You'd have to jailbreak to get rid of it.

    Don't jailbreak - that's for mugs.

You either need to fix your speaker system or look at the podcasts you are playing. Audio files have built-in volume settings. You may be playing podcasts that have been set with volume too low. Have you normalised them with iTunes ?

I havent done any normalisation but its the same across all the spoken podcasts.. mainly from RTE, Newstalk, Today FM etc.

The problem is my engine is noisy on the motorway because its only a lawnmower job and the bluetooth on the car doesnt play them overly loud normally anyway.

Well if you are tech minded you could use Audacity to increase the volume within the audio. If not then I suggest a better amp/radio unit - experiment with the equaliser or use a single earphone when driving....
