When we celebrate Christmas, will we remember the oldest Christian Communities?

Today, on Christmas, Christians all around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus, A.K.A. Yeshua Ben Yosef, a palestinian Jew who was born into Roman occupation, and thank him for sacrificing his life in return for their eternal salvation.
That is what Christmas is about.

But how many of us who celebrate Christmas bother to think about the oldest christian communities in the world?

Communities likes those in Bethlehem, the place of Christ's birth, where 2,000 and something years later the indigenous Christian (and Muslim) people are (still) being denied basic human rights and are subject to apartheid rule from foreign military occupiers, much like Jesus and his people were when he was born?

Or Christian communities like those in Ma'loula in Syria, one of the last places in the world where Aramaic, the language Jesus himself would have spoke is still in use? Where western backed "revolutionaries" have been executing Christians who refused to renounce Christ and convert to Islam?

When you celebrate the birth of the son of your God today, will you bother to think of those who are still being persecuted for having faith in him? Or will you just eat too much food, drink too much alcohol and talk too much crap?
