I'd reccomend starting with pix.ie - they're both free, but pix.ie is local and has a more homely feal - the owner Marcus is a regular here , and answers various issues that occur

Pix is not much good tbh. I don't think anybody here would use it if it wasn't Irish-owned.

Flickr is a great place to start out. The communities/groups are great for beginners looking to learn or to see what other people are doing.

500px for me too, the pictures look the best on there. Also the rating system and the upload limit stops you from uploading 26 pictures of coffee cups.

Also 500px.com is the best site for inspiration out of the choices IMO.

Flickr or 500 px. If you would like to pay for, smugmug is great.

I favour 500px too. It's the only picture site I really enjoy browsing.

As above, Flickr and 500px really are as good as one another. Just be sure to protect your imagery/photography with the correct settings etc.

I like flickr and very easy to use. Plus, I get feedback from a huge global audience and occasionally sell some things. Hope this helps.

500px is visually amazing, but a haven for photoshopped images.

Practically none of the photographs featured are straight from the camera.

Meh. Same thing could be said about every photo sharing site on the planet. Same thing could probably be said about the random photo thread here. Define "straight from the camera".

I know what you mean. Browsing the popular photos on 500px can be an eye-searing experience.
