Is this particular Christmas meaningful for you?

It is for me. I feel very very blessed this Christmas. For the past 6 years, myself and my mam have eaten Christmas dinner together on our own. My dad's illness meant he couldn't be there with us. And with my two sisters on the other side of the world, the house felt really empty. They have been extremely lonely and sad times. This year though, my sister, her partner and their two children are home and we get to have a nice big family dinner. We get to bring the grandkids to see my dad in the nursing home which means more to him than anything in the world. I wish my other sister was here with us too but I suppose, I cant be that greedy. As well as that, I get to spend Christmas eve with the love of my life, who does everything in his power to make me smile every day. And it's all topped off with drinks with his wonderful family tomorrow night. Christmas feels special once again. Merry Christmas to you all. I hope every single one of you have the best day ever.xxxxxx

Anyone else's Christmas have a particularly strong meaning for them this year?

I thought this xmas would be different but no, I got my hopes up too early (i'll pm y'is later huns xoxo)

Still though, i'll do what I do every year, have a bit of drink, lots of extra turkey sammages to accompany me gym bulking. Play video games, watch movies and post dribble online :D

That's lovely OP, enjoy the day :)

It is meaningful for me in that it is our first year as a married couple, so we will spend the whole day together for the first time in 5 years. Going to his family for breakfast then travelling 2 hours to my family for dinner & stay the night. Looking forward to it!

It's the first Christmas that I'm pregnant ... could pop any day now!

It's a bit weird missing out on all the Christmas drinking sessions, but I'm told it'll all be worth it. :)

My heart goes out to anyone struggling with life this time of year. Loneliness, depression, grief etc all become so much more heightened around the Christmas period. I remember wishing that Christmas would be over so that I wouldn't have to feel like I had to be enjoying myself.

My grandmother (mam's mam) died in October so it's all about making sure my mam has a relaxing fun christmas this year. Personally I can take it or leave it but I think a special effort is in order this time round

I'm so so sorry to hear that. Christmas really amplifies crap feelings sometimes. I sincerely hope things turn around for you soon.

I didn't think I would be here for Christmas because I was very depressed months ago and couldn't see myself getting better. But I made it through to the other side eventually and I'm very happy to be here at Christmas with my husband and three young kids. It's good to be alive!

Merry Christmas to each and every one of you xxxxxxx

First Christmas not working Christmas eve and Stephen's day so I can just relax on Christmas day without worrying about being up at three or four in the morning, I can get locked! :D it will just be nice to be able to stay up and watch movies or whatever without work hanging over my head, although the run up to it has been difficult with less money its been soooo nice relaxing today!

It won't be great in terms of presents since as an 18 year old I've passed the santa phase (:() but I'm grateful for the time off college, so very grateful.

    No not for me.

I don't dislike Christmas but I don't love it either. A part of me will be relieved when it's all over but I'll try make the best of it (few sessions, be grand).

This Christmas will be the first without my dad (who died out of the blue back in October) and my grandmother (who died two weeks later).

In a selfish way, I'm very jealous of all the joy almost everyone else is feeling right now. But then I think that, even though the last thing I feel like doing tomorrow is "celebrating", there are so many people in the same boat and countless more people who are worse off than me. I still have a healthy mother and sister, a loving long term girlfriend and so many amazing, supportive relatives and friends. So for all those things, I'm thankful for.

Sorry for the downer on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas to all Boardsies and all your loved ones.

It's no better or worse, just different. No-one has cancer this year so that's nice, but it's a period of flux as far as everything else is concerned so it feels a bit unsettled. I'm glad I'm happy and healthy though and so are those near and dear to me. Merry Christmas AH!
